Classic original Smiths Empire vintage wristwatch with a striking two-tone “bullseye” dial. The outer chapter ring is a deep charcoal/black with aged luminous Arabic numerals, contrasted against a warm cream centre. Signed SMITHS EMPIRE and SHOCKPROOF 5 JEWELS, with MADE IN GT BRITAIN printed at 6 o’clock. The dial shows honest, even aging with light spotting throughout, adding character without taking away from legibility.
Manual wind movement, currently running and keeping time within approximately 4 minutes per day, which is very respectable for its age. Housed in a 34mm case (excluding crown) with sharp edges still present. The case is chromed and shows surface marks and light pitting in places, particularly to the sides, consistent with age, but overall remains strong and attractive on the wrist. Stainless steel caseback is marked ANTI-MAGNETIC – STAINLESS STEEL BACK – DUST WATER SHOCK RESISTANT.
