A really strong example of a mid-1950s Omega automatic, reference 2753-2, powered by the classic bumper calibre 354. The serial dates this one to 1954 and it has just had a fresh service, so it’s running exactly as it should with excellent performance. Early bumper automatics have loads of character on the wrist and mark a key moment in Omega’s technical development.
The dial is exceptionally clean for its age and presents almost like new. It has very likely been lightly cleaned at some point given how fresh it looks, but the printing remains crisp and well balanced. It’s one of those dials that immediately lifts the watch and sets it apart from the tired examples that usually surface.
The case is in strong condition with only light surface marks, retaining its original lines and clearly not over-polished. The domed acrylic crystal sits nicely and gives the watch a great profile on the wrist. At a full 35mm excluding the crown, this sits firmly in jumbo territory for the period and wears larger than most 1950s Omegas.
One of the real highlights here is the original Omega bracelet, which is increasingly hard to find in good condition and suits the watch perfectly with a proper period look.
Inside, the calibre 354 bumper movement is clean, original and freshly serviced, running perfectly. These movements are robust, dependable and hugely satisfying to own with
