Rolex Oyster Precision 6426, Linen, 1971

£2,450.00

Rolex Oyster Precision reference 6426, dating to 1971, fitted with the much harder to find original linen dial and its original folded link Oyster bracelet with correct 357 end links, dated 1972.

The linen dial gives this reference a completely different presence on the wrist. Finished in a soft silver tone with a fine textured surface, it plays with the light in a way flat dials simply do not. It has depth, variation and a quiet richness that only really comes through when worn. These dials were produced in far smaller numbers and are now rarely seen in original condition.

There is some very light spotting visible under close inspection, consistent with age, but the dial remains clean overall with strong, undisturbed printing and nothing visible on the wrist. The applied baton markers and hands have taken on a gentle, even patina that sits naturally against the dial.

The case is well preserved, with clean lines through the lugs and only light polishing and surface marks evident. It retains the correct proportions and wears exactly as a 34mm Oyster should.

The folded link Oyster bracelet is a standout in its own right. Fitted with correct 357 end links and dated 1972, it is in excellent condition with minimal sag. It sits tight on the wrist and gives the watch a far more solid feel than typically found on examples of this age.

The proportions, the texture of the dial and the way the bracelet wears all come together to make something far more interesting than a standard silver dial 6426. It has presence without being loud, and works just as well casually as it does dressed up.

Powered by a Rolex manual wind movement, clean and running as it should following a service.
