A highly unusual and early Omega wristwatch dating to circa 1939, preserved in original condition and powered by one of Omega’s most respected early manual wind calibres.
Housed in a 31mm stainless steel case (excluding crown), this example carries the rarely seen “FAB. SUISSE” dial signature beneath the Omega logo, a marking associated with early production and increasingly difficult to find in untouched condition. The dial itself is exceptionally well preserved, with a clean, even surface and crisp printed Arabic numerals, outer minute track and subsidiary seconds at 6.
The case design is particularly distinctive. The lugs are broader and more sculptural than typical late-1930s Omegas, giving the watch a more modern, Calatrava-like presence on the wrist. The caseback is also noteworthy, with its unusual engraved configuration and clear Omega stamping, adding another layer of interest for collectors. There is some pitting to the caseback, per the pictures.
Inside sits a manual wind Omega movement signed “Omega Swiss 15 Jewels”, very likely the 26.5 T3 calibre, one of the brand’s key pre-war movements and widely regarded for its reliability and architecture. The movement has just been serviced and is running as it should.
The crown is Omega signed, and the watch presents as a cohesive, original piece throughout.
It is fitted on a high-quality handmade burgundy leather strap, newly made, and paired with an aftermarket Omega buckle that suits the watch well.
