Omega Constellation Piepan, 168.004, Cal. 561, 1966
A highly desirable Omega Constellation Pie Pan dating to 1966, featuring the sought-after black original dial with gilt furniture and the celebrated Calibre 561 chronometer-rated automatic movement.
The original black pie pan dial remains exceptionally attractive, with gilt printing, applied gold-tone baton markers and matching dauphine hands. The combination of the black dial, gold-plated case and gold furnishings creates one of the most striking Constellation configurations of the period. The recessed hidden crown remains present, a distinctive design feature of the reference.
Housed in its original gold-plated 35mm case, this example retains strong lines and appears not to have been overly polished. The observatory medallion to the case back remains full and well defined, an important detail for collectors. There is a small ding at 2 oclock and a small crack in the tension ring inner - neither are visible on the wrist. Inside beats Omega's renowned Calibre 561 automatic chronometer movement, correctly numbered to a 1966 production date and currently performing within a few seconds per day.
The watch is fitted to its original Omega bracelet, which remains a generous size. As expected, there is visible plate wear to sections of the bracelet, while the case itself presents very well for its age.
A classic mid-century Constellation and one of the most attractive references in the range, combining the desirable pie pan dial, hidden crown, chronometer movement and original bracelet.
