Omega 14786 SC-68, Cal 552, 1961, Patina dial

£375.00

This is a vintage Omega Automatic, case reference 14786 SC-68, powered by the well-known Omega calibre 552 automatic movement. The movement serial dates the watch to 1961.

The stainless steel case with gold plating measures 32mm excluding the crown. On the wrist it wears in line with early-1960s Omega dress watches.

The watch is currently keeping very good time, showing strong amplitude on the timegrapher and running consistently in daily wear.

The original dial shows honest age throughout, with widespread spotting and patination across the surface. This is visible across the dial and most noticeable under close inspection and certain light. Applied numerals and markers remain intact, with original hands fitted. Acrylic crystal is present and shows light surface wear consistent with age.

The case shows plate wear, particularly around the sides and lugs, as shown in the photos. This is all commensurate with age and use and nothing unexpected for a watch of this period. Despite this, it wears well on the wrist and retains good overall shape. Omega-signed crown fitted.

Inside is the automatic calibre 552, clean and complete.

Timekeeping is strong; however, it’s important to note that manual winding is stiff and has a grinding feel. The watch does wind and run, but this is something a new owner should be aware of and may wish to address at a future service.

The case measures 32mm exc crown but wears large. Fitted to a brand new brown leather strap, included with the watch.

An honest, correctly described early-1960s Omega, offered as it stands, with condition and mechanical notes clearly stated.
