The real attraction is the dial. Originally a pale silver/cream tone, it has developed an extraordinary soft pink hue through age. The patination is remarkably even and gives the watch a warmth and individuality that simply cannot be replicated on a modern example.
The dial features classic black Roman numerals, railway minute track and Cartier’s unmistakable blued-steel sword hands.
This is the smaller ref. 1567, measuring approximately 24mm across and 35mm lug-to-lug, with a slim profile of around 6mm. The case features an 18ct yellow-gold bezel, sapphire crystal and Cartier quartz movement.
The case appears to remain unpolished, retaining the contrasting brushed and polished surfaces characteristic of the Santos. There are light surface marks consistent with careful use, while the gold bezel and exposed screw detailing remain beautifully defined.
The integrated bracelet continues the two-tone design, combining brushed stainless steel with 18ct yellow-gold screw detailing and a concealed Cartier folding clasp.
The caseback is correctly signed Cartier and reference 1567, with individual case number CC17665.
The watch is accompanied by an authentic later Cartier presentation box with outer box, Cartier booklets and a repair letter from a Cartier authorised dealer dating to 2012.
A new battery has just been fitted and the watch is working perfectly.
