Rolex Oyster Precision Ref. 6426, Black Dial, 1957

£2,250.00

Rolex Oyster Precision, reference 6426, with case serial 284,699 dating the watch to 1957. A straightforward manual-wind Oyster from the mid-1950s, slim, well balanced and very wearable.

The black dial is exceptionally clean for the period, with applied baton hour markers and matching hands. Printing is crisp and evenly laid out, and the Rolex coronet is sharp. Given how fresh the dial presents, it is possible that it has been refurbished at some point, though it remains very well executed and sits comfortably with the rest of the watch. Acrylic crystal fitted, showing only light surface marks consistent with age.

The stainless steel Oyster case measures approximately 34mm excluding the crown. It retains strong, original proportions and has not been over-polished. There are surface marks and light wear throughout, exactly what you would expect from a watch of this age, with nothing heavy or distracting. Reference and serial numbers are clearly visible between the lugs, confirming ref. 6426 and a 1957 production year.

Bracelet size c.18.25cm. 257 end links.

Fitted with a period-correct Rolex bracelet, which wears well and suits the watch nicely. The bracelet shows expected signs of use but remains solid and presentable. Rolex signed crown in place.

The watch is running immaculately and keeping time within around 2 seconds per day.

A clean, honest example of a mid-1950s Oyster Precision — understated, practical, and easy to live with, in a condition that’s becoming harder to find.
