Rolex Datejust
Ref. 16234, circa 2000
A Datejust with a dial that has completely transformed over time.
Originally a silver tapestry dial, it has developed into a rich mix of copper, red, brown and salmon tones, with the vertical texture still clearly visible beneath. The colour shifts across the dial depending on light, giving it depth and variation you simply don’t see on standard examples.
The case is strong and well balanced, showing honest wear without having been taken back too far. The 18ct white gold fluted bezel remains crisp and frames the dial well.
Original sapphire crystal in place, with scuffing visible around the edges.
On a Jubilee bracelet with 555B end links and clasp stamped 62510H. There is stretch and surface wear throughout, consistent with use. Bracelet length approximately 19cm.
Automatic movement running well on the timegrapher.
A very different Datejust, with a dial that sets it apart immediately.
